About Jennifer.

I'm Jennifer.

I write about hiking, home renovation disasters, marriage, family, hosting strangers, and the kinds of situations that seem perfectly reasonable right up until the moment they aren't.

For nearly two decades, my husband Joe and I transformed our Florida home, affectionately known as Casa Flamingo, through a long series of projects, repairs, questionable decisions, and unexpected adventures. Somewhere along the way, we discovered that our best stories started with a sentence like, "What if we . . .?"

These days, you'll usually find me on a trail in the Upstate of South Carolina, shuttling hikers, writing, or trying to figure out how an ordinary day turned into a story.

This blog is a collection of those stories.

Not because I've mastered life.

Mostly because hindsight is funny.

Welcome to Frolicking Flamingo.

Real Life. Better in Hindsight.
