Maybe It’s A Squirrel

A Memoir in Progress

For nearly two decades, my husband and I lived in Florida, in a house we named Casa Flamingo.

What began as a fixer-upper became a long-running experiment in home renovation, marriage, family life, hospitality, wildlife management, and occasionally poor decision-making.

Maybe It's a Squirrel is about the adventures, mishaps, and unexpected lessons that emerged from those years. From renovations gone sideways to mystery noises in the walls, wandering strangers, driveway drama, and the countless moments when a simple project became anything but simple, the stories share what happened when ordinary life refused to behave itself.

The manuscript is currently in development and seeking representation.

Real Life. Better in Hindsight.

Current Status

  • Manuscript in progress (writing about Porkapalooza takes time, people)

  • Seeking representation (we can guess what will happen if I’m forced to represent myself)

  • Approximately 30,000+ words completed (expecting the toilet chapter to take at least 3,000 more words)

  • Expected completion: 2026 (hope springs eternal)
